“Remontage” consists in pumping up the wine from the bottom of the vat in order to sprinkle the “cap” (grape skin and pips which rise to the surface). The process optimises the extraction of colour and tannins.

It is based principally on the quality of the soil, the altitude, the micro-climate, and the method of cultivation of the vine in each parcel. The parcels are classified in this way from A (the best score) to F.

Elegant, fresh and well-balanced, with soft approachable tannins, our Maria Mansa red wine offers delicious notes of red fruits on the palate, typical of the wines from this region, in good harmony with the notes of wood. This balance gives us a high quality wine from the Douro which is softer and more immediately accessible than the rest of the Noval range, ready for immediate consumption.

GRAPE VARIETIES

Blend of the noblest of the classic Douro varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão.

 

WHERE THE GRAPES COME FROM

Carefully selected grapes of top quality grown on the steeply terraced vineyards in the heart of the Douro Valley in Northern Portugal. 

 

VINIFICATION

The wine is vinified in our specially designed conical stainless steel temperature controlled vats, within a temperature range of 25/28°C.

 

MATURING

Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels of different ages.

Serve between 16-18°C.
